Do you want to go to jail?

September 8-14 marks the sixth annual Corrections Week in Alberta. During this week, corrections staff in Alberta Justice and Solicitor General hold a number of events to help Albertans understand the work they do.

Let’s face it, for the most part, far too often corrections workers are portrayed negatively on TV and in the movies.

Corrections week is about the facts: that corrections workers are professionals who keep our communities safe through the humane care, custody and control of inmates within Alberta adult and young offender centres, and by providing effective supervision of individuals in Alberta communities.

The events provide everyone with a better understanding of how Correctional Services staff’s work contributes to safe and secure communities and how they exemplify the Public Service core values of excellence, integrity, accountability and respect.

Events are planned for throughout the province, and everyone is invited to attend. For more information about the activities planned as well as about Corrections Week, please visit www.correctionsweek.alberta.ca.
